As the popular social media app in China, WeChat is more than just a messaging service app, it supports payments and money transfer, which allows users to peer-to-peer transfer and electronic bill payment. If you are the first time to use this function, this post would teach you the step-by-step details of how to link credit card to WeChat wallet.
How to Add Credit Card to WeChat Wallet
Step 1: Open WeChat and click on the “Me” tab at the bottom right the screen. Tap on Wallet.
Step 2: Tap on “Cards” to add your credit card.
Step 3: Tap on “Add a Card”.
Step 4: Enter your card number as it appears on your card.
Step 5: Enter your name exactly as it has been input by your bank. (Note: This is not the name as it appear on the card itself. You can find this name on the receipt issued by your bank after you opening your account.
Step 6: Select and change ID type.
Step 7: Enter passport number and registered phone number.
Step 8: Enter SMS verification code sent to your phone for confirmation.
Step 9: Set WeChat payment password.
Step 10: Your credit card is linked to your WeChat account.
At present, not all bankcards can be accepted by WeChat payment. Accepted bankcards to be assigned for WeChat Pay are as follows:
1. Bank cards from Mainland China can be linked for WeChat Pay by verifying your registered mobile number.
2. For bank cards from outside Mainland China, only credit cards may be linked. The card number, expiration date, and CVN2 will be required for verification; billing address will also be verified for cards opened in the United States and Canada.
3.When you are noticed to verify your identity after you linked a credit card opened outside Mainland China, you need to add a new card for an account opened in Mainland China.
